Tens of thousands of southern migrants are moving to Queensland, driving up property prices across the state, but if you’re on the hunt for a bargain then here’s your fix, with blocks from just $12,000.
Vacant blocks across the state sold for just $5000 last year, and while one region is offering a homeowner grant that essentially means free land, generally prices have increased this year.
But whether you want to build a house, a stable or just want a spot to camp on, these blocks of land are still going for bargain prices.
24-27 Unnamed Off Railway Rd, Mungallala
Listed price: $12,000
Size: 1012sq m
Distance to Brisbane: 600km
Population: 136
This spot has over a century of history.
The site in Mungallala, about 130km west of Roma, once was the site of the region’s St John’s Anglican Church, built in 1910 before it was moved in 1962.
The block itself is even with some natural grazing and bushland, and is one of the cheapest spots in Queensland.
Lot 152 Jabiru St, Longreach

This spot is an outback punters dream, the stable block is in the Longreach racetrack complex which of course is home to the annual Longreach Cup.
The land is situated in the stable community with the real estate agent commenting on the rarity of opportunities like this.

The coal-rich town is just an hour from the secluded beaches and the Big Mango in Bowen, which of course is a port to the Whitsundays.
It sold on October 11 for it’s price, after selling for just $1000 in June 2004 and according to realestate.com, selling for $65,000 in March 2007.

This is one of the cheapest blocks in Queensland, maybe due to the train line behind it but the property is based in a residential area is great to chuck an country home on.

The small island jammed between Stradbroke Island and Redland Bay can only be accessed by ferry but if you’re looking for a small community close to the city then this is for you.
This is the cheapest block on the island with others selling for over $30,000.

Distance to Brisbane: 52km

This might not one of the cheapest blocks in the state, but is one of the cheaper spots in the Greater Brisbane area and it might boast the best view out of the lot.
This waterfront block of land is within the Tangalooma resort precinct and is perfect for a holiday home or waterfront retirement.
This may not last very long on the open market.
42 Delacour Dr, Mount Isa

Mount Isa is the major service provider of northwest Queensland and has the largest population in this list.
It hosts the famous Mount Isa Rodeo and plenty more with this location just a short walk to the CBD.
