Equities market tumble unsettles prestige Sunshine Coast buyers

“If this auction was even a month ago we would have sold it under the hammer at a much higher price.”
So says Sunshine Coast veteran agent Tom Offermann after the diamond of Noosa Heads passed in at auction today.
The 2005-built waterfront estate on 611sq m is one of only 36 homes on the riverfront address and features a large entertaining terrace facing the water with a bar, outdoor kitchen, pool and spa.
Three interstate bidders registered for the auction with two taking part and there was interest from two fresh parties who saw the property for the first time at the auction.
“We had a panic call from someone in the UK that I had sent information to a week ago, which is pretty consistent with that type of property," Mr Offerman said. "They called me straight after the auction and are interested.
“A lot of people at this level hold assets in the equities market and the last week’s financial events with the equities market tumbling has unsettled buyers.”

5 Coree Close, Jindalee - Sold for $1.3m

The richest non-riverfront home in the western suburb of Jindalee is now 5 Coree Close and a crowd of 200 witnessed the sale after five registered bidders took the home to auction today.
Kremer and Co selling agent Steve Kremer said a younger couple from Auchenflower bought the four-bedroom house on a 979sq m block. The property had been a multigenerational home for the sellers.
"They are now moving to Cairns to be closer to their grandkids," Mr Kremer said.
Once again, the lure of a home that does not need renovating is attracting buyers particularly with continued uncertainty around build times and cost blowouts.

Good morning Brisbane! We're starting the day with Ray White's June auction event at the Calile Hotel in Fortitude Valley where 12 properties are going under the hammer. The first auction of the day kicks off at 10am with Haesley Cush set up with a honey and lemon drink as he fends off the end of a cold. Bidding starts at $850,000 from a woman in the third row and goes up in $5000 lots. At $960,000 the auction pauses.
"Madam round it up to a $1m, give them the old Jeff Horn," Haesley encourages. A bid from the back of the room brings the property to $970,000 and the property is announced on the market. Most of the bids from here go up by $1000, until 18 bids later the property sells for $993,000.
"Is that the aircon or the market?" Haesley asks.

At $2.2m the property is announced on the market and the $1000 strategy begins again with a follow-up bid of $2,201,000.
"Selling at $2,201,000, we've called it away twice…."
Another $1000 is added and then bidders move to $500 increases until a new bidder wearing the only mask in the room of 100, comes in with a $1000 increase to $2,204,000. A phone bidder replies with an extra $6,000 and the property sells for $2.21m.

A woman in the third row starts bidding at $900,000 and goes up in $50,000 increases until it pauses naturally at $1.2m.
"Brandon should we tell the bidder the price we can get it on the market at?" Haesley asks. The lead bidder sitting in row four shakes his head when he hears the sum but the conversation continues and Brandon then walks to the front corner of the Calile auction room to chat with the seller on the phone. He returns to the lead bidder and suggests another price. A slight head hod leaves Brandon with some optimism and the bidder increases his bid to $1.25m. "I've got a question to ask," Tom Lyne says before leaving the room.
He returns after a few seconds.
"One sec, I know where they are, and he moves to a couple seated in the back row of the room."
That couple place a bid of $1.85m on the basis that the property is put on the market. Another couple standing by one of the Calile's iconic arched windows enter the auction and hold the lead at $2m. At $2.21m the frenzy of bidding slows and the property sells for that price.
