It's still a seller's market and there are some grand homes lined up to test its strength on Saturday.

The sellers of 20 Casuarina Place, Mount Gravatt East, built the home 24 years ago and today 17 registered bidders took the property to auction with the house selling for $1.485m.
"It was a real mixed bag of buyers: Melbourne, Western Australia, and local buyers from within the suburb," TEAM Estate Agents' Danny Atweh said.
"But the one who bought it was from Melbourne. He had relocated here and had been renting for a few months."
For most of the auction, which you can watch HERE, the Melbourne bidder was silent.
"We had five active bidders and the Melbourne bidder who bought it came in right at the end, he only ended up putting in two bids and bought it. It's a good strategy."

"That's a suburb record for a non-acreage low-set in Bridgeman Downs," Mr Garth said.
"It's been a really strong campaign and this was a one-off, architect designed and opposite a 10,000sq m park that is at the heart of this estate."
The buyers are a young couple currently living in Brisbane's inner city.

There was an international battle for this piece of real estate gold on a sought after Hawthorne hill today that played out as a precursor to tonight's Australian Open women's final on Rod Laver Arena.
'Centre court' was 97 Philip St, Hawthorne, a five-bedroom, architect-designed home with a rooftop terrace and 270-degree views.

Playing for Australia was a buyer who had recently moved to Brisbane from Sydney and was looking for a home. The American bidder was an expat currently living in the US who already owns an investment property in inner-eastern Hawthorne.

Australia won the auction, with the Sydney buyer paying $2.7m for the five-bedroom architect-designed home. Hopefully Ash Barty will follow that lead and pull off a grand slam win against American Danielle Collins tonight.

The new owners are local investors who intend to upgrade as each unit becomes vacant. As with the previous landlords, this will also be a long term investment for the new owners.
