A giant $1.5bn residential development next to one of the Gold Coast’s biggest shopping centres will be put to the market in March.

Lewis Land’s Harbour Shores project will feature more than 2000 homes built over the next 10 years, with the first release to be waterfront villas and unit towers.

Expressions of interest for prospective buyers has launched over the festive season, with available properties continuing to dwindle across the city amid a surging population a development sector unable to keep pace.

Lewis Land CEO Brett Draffen said the project would become its own neighbourhood.

“Harbour Shores will proudly deliver under the Gold Coast City Plan by creating a new urban neighbourhood close to major employment hubs, health and retail infrastructure, recreation facilities and transport, including the proposed light rail,” he said.

“The community will be entirely fossil fuel free and over 80 per cent of construction waste will be reused or recycled.

“In March we will launch the first residential releases at Harbour Shores, including a collection of waterfront villa residences, two mid-rise residential apartment buildings, and the large community park.

“Registrations of interest (have) opened to enable our team to work through the large volume of inquiries and share more of our vision for this landmark precinct.”

The 16ha site, which stretches along 1.5km of canal-front, will become home to more than 2000 houses and nearly 5000 people, with the company planning to build 30 buildings which will range from two to 12 levels.

The project is expected to create more than 5000 jobs during construction.
