A 27-year-old real estate agent in Western Sydney has been crowned NSW’s top residential agent at a glittering awards ceremony held last night to honour the industry’s top performers.

The AREA event – or Annual REA Excellence Awards – also highlighted a range of standout professionals in other categories, including rising star, gamechanger of the year, top commercial agent and more.

Josh Tesolin, 27, the principal of Ray White Quakers Hill, scooped the award for top residential agent ahead of industry heavyweights such as Luxe Listings star Gavin Rubinstein of TRG and Alexander Phillips of PPD Real Estate.

The awards considered agent performance across a range of metrics, including ratings and reviews, total value of sales, views, engagement on listings and more.

REA Group, the holding company of listings portal realestate.com.au, had released the top 100 finalists for the awards prior to the ceremony, revealing a diverse range of industry performers.

Mr Tesolin has become something of a phenomenon in the real estate industry of late, selling more than 2000 properties over the course of his brief career.

The agent, who comes from a family of salespeople, was also AREA winner for top residential agent in 2021. He was reported to have earned about $7m in sales commission that year.

Burgess Rawson agent Yosh Mendis took out the honours for Top Commercial Sales Agent NSW.

Established in 2016, the AREAs recognise the performance of property industry professionals in supporting Aussies through their property journey.

The awards include submission-based categories as well as top campaign and agent awards, powered by realestate.com.au and realcommercial.com.au data.

An independent judging panel, including expert representatives from industry bodies, media and community organisations, selected the submission-based award winners.

REA Group chief customer officer Kul Singh said the seventh annual awards attracted record submissions, up 60 per cent on last year.

“2022 was another significant year for the industry,” he said.

Vedant Agrawal of Ray White St Marys got the national award for Rising Star of the Year.

Other NSW-based winners included Emily Wood of Frasers Property Australia, who was awarded Marketer of the Year, and Jessi Hyland of JLL Australia, who won Support Superstar of the Year.
