Drivers across Toowoomba continue to put the lives of those around them at risk when they get behind the wheel under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Here are the names of just some of the city’s offenders.

Despite police media advertising blitzes and repeated warnings from magistrates, Toowoomba still has its share of drink and drug drivers who are a danger on our roads.

Magistrate Kay Ryan regularly warns those appearing before her on drink and drug driving offences that cannabis in particular can remain in the system of a driver for weeks and even those checking their alcohol intake before getting behind the wheel can be off in their estimations.

“People regularly appear before me having tested positive for cannabis and meth only to say that they’ve never had meth in their life,” Ms Ryan regularly states.

“But I’ve heard dealers are mixing ice into the cannabis to get people hooked.”

Woman driver who snapped power pole had “cocktail” of drugs in her system

A Toowoomba woman was so affected by a “cocktail of substances” that even after snapping a power pole in half with her car, she continued driving until her car stalled in the middle of the street.

Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard police called to the incident on Healy St, South Toowoomba, about 5.30pm on March 13, had found the car’s driver Amanda Gail Sleeman slurring her words and confused.

The only thing that kept a 19-year-old alcoholic out of jail was a paperwork error after the teenager faced court charged with high-range drink driving for the third time in 17 months.

Drazic Hughes Furner appeared in Toowoomba Magistrates Court from the watch-house after he was arrested and charged with high range drink driving, driving while disqualified, using a vehicle without number plates and obstructing police.

Cops pulled over drink-driver after seeing her swerve the car across the road

A Toowoomba teenager who got behind the wheel just hours after a night on the town was stopped by police swerving across the road, a court was told.

Imogene Delilah Fisk-Walsh pleaded guilty to high-range drink driving in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Gracey May Brimble, 21, faced Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Wednesday where she pleaded guilty to mid-range drink driving and obstructing a police officer.

No conviction was recorded.
