Warwick, Texas crime wrap: Police on alert as businesses targeted, damaged last week

It’s been another busy week for emergency services across southern Queensland with police responding to a variety of matters ranging from break and enters to the busy after parties for the Warwick Cup.
Here’s what you’ve missed in the past seven days.
WARWICK
Theft
• On October 9, a car parked on Jabrili Court, in north Warwick, was broken into overnight by forcing a door and a rescue tool stolen.
• Days later, on Wednesday, a length of copper pipe was taken from a business address in Albion St. It is understood the pipe was cut from the exterior of the building.
Police are investigating the matter.
• On October 10, entry was gained through the fence to the Telstra depot on Fitzroy St and two generator trailers were damaged – tool boxes on the trailers were forced and a quantity of tools were stolen. It is unclear if the two business break-ins were related.
Traffic matters
• At 8.45am on Wednesday, a 50-year-old Sladevale man was intercepted on Alexandra Drive with police allegedly discovering he did not have a current licence. Checks also found that his Holden sedan was also allegedly unregistered.
He was issued with infringement notices relating to these offences.
• On Friday, local police received a report that about noon, a VW ute towing a trailer attempted to enter the drive thru of a fast-food restaurant on Albion St.
It is understood the trailer allegedly collided with signage in the middle of a traffic island causing damage to the sign panel. The driver has then reversed and tried to drive forward again, hitting the sign a second time.
The driver has then driven away from the premises without notifying the business.
• On Saturday at 11pm, a Toyota utility was intercepted on Park Rd for an RBT. The driver, a 23-year-old male from Warwick, was tested and was allegedly driving with a blood alcohol concentration level of 0.136.
His licence was immediately suspended and he will appear in Warwick Magistrate Court in November.
Disturbance
• Police are currently investigating after a room door was damaged at a Hotel in Palmerin St.
Officers said appears the door was forced open, leading to damage around the lock area. This followed reports of a disturbance in the room.
Investigations are continuing.
Races
• Police were kept busy in the CBD during the night after large crowds attended the 2023 Warwick Cup.
Officers were pleased the crowds were largely well behaved and no arrests were made.
TEXAS
Traffic matters
• On the afternoon of October 1, police intercepted a LandCruiser on Greenup St in Texas for a random breath test, where it is alleged the driver returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.056.
A 24-year-old Bonshaw man was issued a notice to appear at Inglewood Magistrates Court at the end of the month, for driving a vehicle while over the legal limit.
• On the afternoon of October 10, police intercepted a Commodore ute on High St in Texas for a random breath test, where it is alleged the driver returned a breath alcohol concentration of 0.153.
The 45-year-old Inverell man was held in custody until his breath alcohol reduced and was later released with a notice to appear at Inglewood Magistrates Court on October 30 for driving a vehicle while under the influence of liquor.
His licence was immediately suspended.
Theft
• Between June and October, it is alleged that unknown persons broke into an unattended dwelling on Texas Flat Rd in Texas, and damaged a gun safe to gain entry into it.
The alleged offenders did not locate any firearms.
It is unknown if other property was stolen however, investigations into the incident are ongoing.
• At 9.30am on October 11, it is alleged the driver of a white Hilux utility pumped diesel into the vehicle from a roadhouse service station on Greenup St in Texas, and drove off without paying.
Police would like to remind motorists that failure to pay for fuel is an offence.
