Warwick police are on the hunt for a number of people connected to a spate of property theft and damage offences over the past week.
The first on officers’ lists is a man who smashed a window at The Criterion Hotel at about 7.40pm on Friday.
Warwick Police officer-in-charge Jamie Deacon said the man was inside the pub and beckoned another man on the outside to come closer to the window, then punched through it with his fist.
“The person who put their face close to the glass, he suffered an injury and got some cuts from the glass,” Senior Sergeant Deacon said.
“He ended up at the hospital but he isn’t telling us much. He’s saying he doesn’t know who the other person was.
“Whether it was a prank or something else, we don’t know at this point in time. We have a couple of witnesses and there is some CCTV, so investigations are continuing.”
Adding to Warwick’s alarming spate of property crime this month, thieves stole a motorbike from the front yard of a Pratten Street home between midnight and 8am Sunday.
Sergeant Deacon said there was no evidence to connect it to the string of vehicle thefts reported last week, but police weren’t ruling it out at this stage.
“We obviously had the golf buggy and the ATV in a similar vein, but at the end of the day we don’t know whether it is or not,” he said.
The motorbike is yet to be located and no charges have been laid.
Vandals struck yet again over the weekend by cutting their way through the greenhouse fence at the Enchanted Garden Nursery on Alexandra Drive.
Sergeant Deacon said it did not appear as though anything had been stolen at this stage, but said further investigation would be necessary.
