CRIME WRAP: Police seize heroin, meth in Stanthorpe drug raids

Stanthorpe police have been kept busy with a number of drug raids across the region, as they also search for the person responsible for blowing up a mailbox with illegal fireworks. Full report here:

A Stanthorpe woman was busted with meth, opioids and drug utensils during a police raid, in just one of a string of offences across the region this week.

A Stanthorpe woman was allegedly busted with 0.5g of meth, opioid tablets and drug paraphernalia including pipes, digital scales, clip seal bags and a phone at a Folkstone Street home at 8.30am on Tuesday.

Stanthorpe police Senior Constable Matt Shield said police would allege the 46-year-old didn’t have a prescription for the opioid tablets.

She is due to appear in Stanthorpe Magistrates Court on August 18 on two counts of drug possession, two counts of possess with intent to commit a crime and one count of possessing drug utensils.

Constable Shield said police allegedly saw a clip seal bag with 7.7g of marijuana protruding from a man’s shorts pocket while attending his Thulimbah home on July 16 at 9.25am.

The 38-year-old is due to front Stanthorpe Magistrates Court on August 18.

Police busted a 31-year-old man they say had 12g of marijuana, a pipe, grinder and scissors at his Stanthorpe home on July 16.

At the same home police seized a number of drug-related items from a 25-year-old Thulimbah man.

The two men will front Stanthorpe Magistrates Court at a later date on various drug charges.

Constable Shield said a Mount Colliery woman allegedly had 0.1g marijuana in her car after police pulled over the driver on Belmont Drive in Dalveen at 8.10pm on July 16.

The 35-year-old will front Stanthorpe Magistrates Court on August 18 for drug possession.

Constable Shield said a 44-year-old man was heavily intoxicated and verbally abusive towards police when they attended a Stanthorpe pub on High Street on July 16 at 10.50pm.

Police were called to the premises after reports the man’s phone was missing or stolen.

The Stanthorpe man was later arrested and taken to the Stanthorpe Watchhouse.

He was fined $413 for police nuisance.

A highly intoxicated man was arrested on Monday after verbally abusing police when officers attended a Folkstone Street party at 1.30am.

Constable Shield said the 32-year-old Stanthorpe man was taken to the Stanthorpe Watchhouse.
He was fined $413 for police nuisance.

Police are on the hunt for a person who destroyed a Railway Street mailbox and the mail inside by letting off illegal fireworks after 10pm on Saturday.
