Newell Highway crash: Cattle killed in truck rollover near Boggabilla

A truck carrying livestock has rolled off a major regional highway connecting Queensland and NSW, with a number of cattle on board believed to have been killed.
It’s understood the truck was travelling along the Newell Highway, around 5km across the border near Boggabilla, when it left the road and landed on its side.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said two crews along with NSW fireys attended the scene and have gone into action with hydraulic cutting gear to help free the cattle still on the trailer.
Paramedics are on scene, however a QAS spokeswoman said the driver of the truck was uninjured.
A NSW police spokesman said a small number of cattle have died, while 52 have been injured and will be required to be euthanised.
It’s understood there’s no impact to traffic.
Emergency services remain on scene.
