The Warwick man police want to speak to over a shocking daylight last week had previously spent more than three weeks on the run in 2018, with police finally capturing him following a dramatic police pursuit across the Southern Downs.
The details on his history have emerged as police call for information on the whereabouts of Jackson Bruce Watson, who investigators believe can assist them over the shooting of Warwick man Jason Martin.
Mr Martin was allegedly gunned down in broad daylight on Wallace St, Warwick last week, suffering a life-threatening wound to his abdomen.
He was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition and underwent surgery.
Police have called on the public to help locate the 26-year-old Mr Watson, but warn the public not to approach him as he may be armed.
Mr Watson, who is known to frequent Warwick, Toowoomba, the Gold Coast and Brisbane, spent weeks on the run back in 2018.
Police eventually apprehended the Warwick man on Junabee Road, Warwick in May that year, following a dramatic police pursuit through Killarney, Maryvale and Yangan.
The Warwick man, whose vehicle was stopped by road spikes and was by the end of the pursuit missing entire tyres, was subsequently charged with 25 offences including burglary, arson or a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, evading police, stealing and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He was sentenced for the spree in the Warwick District Court in October, 2019 after spending 426 days in pre-sentence custody, where he was given three and a half years’ jail. He was eligible for parole on September 20, 2020.
Anyone with information on Mr Watson’s whereabouts is urged to immediately call triple-0.
“Police consider him to be dangerous and the public should not approach him if sighted, but contact triple-0 immediately,” a spokesman said.
“Police would particularly like to appeal to any associates of Jackson or anyone who may know his whereabouts to make immediate contact.”
Mr Watson is described as caucasian, approximately 170cm tall with a proportionate build, brown hair, and brown eyes.
