A former Cowboys player has faced court over a violent fight in a Rose City street that saw him throw rocks and pot plants after his leg was broken by a brick.

A former Warwick footy player has ended up in court after a violent fight in a Rose City street, which left the man with a criminal charge and a broken leg.

Joshua Douglas Jeffrey Klein pleaded guilty to one charge of wilful damage in Warwick Magistrates Court on October 23.

Klein hobbled into the courthouse with a broken leg, which he suffered during the scuffle.

About 6pm on August 14, police responded to a disturbance at a Myrtle Ave address, in which objects were being thrown by two parties at each other, prosecutor Sergeant Steve de Lissa said.

After a suburban stoush with unknown assailants, Klein “gathered rocks and pot plants, and threw (them) at a vehicle”.

The 34-year-old was later located by police and declined to be interviewed at the watch-house.

The former Warwick Cowboys footy player-turned-butcher then declined to talk to the magistrate telling her “there’s nothing to say really”.

“A brick was thrown at my leg, I threw it back, I didn’t know who I got into a fight with,’ Klein told the magistrate.

Magistrate Virginia Sturgess told the court the man had “sporadic but relevant” criminal history, including instances of prior wilful damage and public nuisance offences.

“There is no justification for throwing rocks and pot plants, after your leg was broken although you didn’t know the attackers,” Ms Sturgess said.

Klein received a $1000 fine for the matter, with conviction recorded.

Klein’s co-accused, who was allegedly involved in the fight, is expected to front court on November 23.

The man stands accused of two charges, weapon possession and contravention of a police officer.
