A beloved waterfront toasted sandwich shop front has rebranded and is now selling instagrammable, fresh sandwiches by another well known coffee and sandwich connoisseur from the Coast.
The Toast Office, a popular toasted sandwich cafe store at Mooloolaba, which has gone viral on Instagram - has rebranded.
Along Mooloolaba Esplanade, opposite Loo with a View, The Toast Office was a local favourite.
The store was opened by Mikayla Stuart when she was just 19, with the mentoring and backing of Danny Simmonds - the mastermind behind Sunshine Coast favourites Criminal Coffee Company and Walter’s Diner.
Sunshine Coast born and bred, the former Chancellor State College graduate had been working part time at the Criminal Coffee Company when she launched the business.
Now, after two years of success, The Toast Office has rebranded to Don Sangas, and been fully taken over by Mr Simmonds.
“I’d like to personally thank you all for a wonderful two years in business, and for taking a chance on some of the weird and wonderful toasted sandwich creations I came up with,” Miss Stuart said on Instagram.
“You have encouraged me to dream bigger, and whether you were there on the first day or just popped in last week, you have supported me through it all.
“Over the last few weeks, I have been working towards stepping down from my role as business owner/toastie maker.
“Sometimes dreams change, and in this case — my passion can now be found elsewhere.”
She announced Danny Simmonds has stepped up to give The Toast Office “some extra life”.
“He is so passionate about creating spaces on the Sunshine Coast that people enjoy, and with that, comes incredible food,” she said.
“The decision has been made to rebrand The Toast Office into a brand new epic sandwich bar called Don Sangas.
“This is Danny’s new dream, and I’m so excited for him to take the reigns and turn this place into something amazing.
“So thank you, to each and everyone of you who took a chance on me over the last two years. Thank you to my friends and family, who have supported me through it all, and tried all my flavour combos before the Sunny Coast did. And a huge thank you to Danny Simmonds for seeing my vision, believing in me, and now allowing me to step down from what was once my biggest dream come true.”
Don Sangas is now open along the Mooloolaba Esplanade.
