Three people have been rescued from the Glass House Mountains in one day during a mammoth few hours for emergency services.

Emergency services were called to Mt Beerwah about 6.30pm on Saturday after two hikers requested help during their trek.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the pair had issues descending the mountain due to darkness and were extracted by the remote rescue team.

The spokeswoman said they arrived back at the base of the mountain just before 10pm and did not require assistance from paramedics.

This rescue followed a longer extraction for a man who became lost on Mt Beerwah earlier in the day.

The man contacted police with his GPS coordinates about 11am on Saturday after becoming lost while traversing from a walking trail at Mt Beerwah.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said they notified QFES who sent multiple crews to the summit base on Mt Beerwah Rd.

A QFES spokeswoman said crews made contact with the man before rescue technicians made their way to his position.

The spokeswoman said these technicians strapped themselves in with the man and descended about 30m down the mountain, before they made it back to the control point about 3.40pm.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics transported a man with abrasions and grazes to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Mt Beerwah was previously closed off to the public on May 5 after hiker Ben Heaton suffered a medical episode and died on the mountain.

Mr Heaton’s death left a “hole” in the hearts of his family and friends who urged other bushwalkers to keep him in their memories during their climbs.

The mountain was also reopened in August 2023 after it was closed to hikers and climbers due to an environmental vandalism incident.
