Beloved Sunshine Coast man Taj Henderson will be farewelled at a funeral in Buderim as the community mourns his tragic death.
Mr Henderson, 21, disappeared from his Teewah Beach campsite at Noosa North Shore late on May 27, sparking a frantic police hunt to find him.
His body was pulled from the surf the next afternoon by a group of strangers passing by in a four-wheel drive.
Police have said the tragedy was being treated as a misadventure. There are no suspicious circumstances.
A public funeral notice stated Mr Henderson will be farewelled at a service at Gregson and Weight Chapel in Buderim on Friday, June 9.
The funeral home said in a post to social media that the Henderson family has requested attendees wear bright, colourful button-ups in honour of Taj.
News of Mr Henderson’s death sent shockwaves through the community, with his heartbroken older brother Dylan taking to social media to pay tribute to his sibling.
In a carousel of six pictures on Instagram, he wrote: “Will keep ya (sic) with me forever and always … Rest easy little bro love you”.
The post sparked an outpouring of love and support in the comments.
“Love ya Dyl, rest easy Taj,” user Sam Penny said.
“Sending all my love to your family,” another user said.
Tin Can Bay police said counselling was being offered to anyone affected by Mr Henderson’s death, including those first on scene, and encouraged anyone in need of help to contact police.
