Sunshine Coast death: Body found in bushland near Twin Waters boat ramp

Police have appealed for public assistance as they work to piece together the final moments of a 49-year-old man’s life after his body was found at a Sunshine Coast boat ramp.

Investigators are working to piece together the last moments of a 49-year-old Sunshine Coast man’s life after his body was found by bushwalkers near a popular boat ramp.

Police were called just before 6pm Thursday, September 22, 2022, to bushland near the Twin Waters boat ramp at Nojoor Rd after bushwalkers came across the man’s body.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman advised early Friday, September 23, 2022 there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death and a report was being prepared for the Coroner.

But investigators have called for public help as they try to establish his movements leading up to his death.

Police said there were no obvious signs of injury and a post mortem was being carried out to help determine the cause of death.

A cordon was in place overnight and early Friday morning to protect the scene and allow forensic officers time to process the site.

Police have asked anyone who visited the area between 8am and 5.40pm Thursday to come forward and they’ve also asked to speak with anyone who may have seen the man or his 2012 silver Hyundai Accent parked in the carpark.

The Sunshine Coast local was described as having fair complexion, about 170cm tall with a proportionate build and brown hair and he was wearing black clothes and a black rain jacket.

Anyone with information, or relevant home CCTV or dashcam footage, has been urged to contact police.

Police said the man’s next of kin had been advised of his death.
