Point Cartwright death: Man’s body found near popular lighthouse
Police have confirmed the body of a man has been discovered at the popular lighthouse reserve at Point Cartwright this morning.

A man is understood to have slipped and fallen to his death near a popular viewing area on the eastern side of Point Cartwright.
The tragedy unfolded in Buddina about 9.30am Monday.
Police confirmed the man’s body was discovered in the Beacon Lighthouse Reserve on Monday morning.
A local surfer who asked not to be identified said the man appeared to have fallen near a popular park bench and viewing area on the eastern side of the landmark.
The man’s death was not being treated as suspicious but it was understood indications from preliminary investigations were that the man had lost his footing and fallen.
Paramedics, firefighters and police officers all attended the scene off Pacific Boulevard.
Two firefighting crews were tasked including a technical rescue team to help with the solemn task of retrieving the man’s body.
Other passers-by who also wished to remain anonymous said they had seen a walking track cordoned off for several hours
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said firefighters had been on scene for about an hour.
