Tradies have returned to the workplace after the tragic discovery of a man’s body at a Birtinya Island job site on Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to a Central Boulevard, Birtinya Island job site about 5am on Monday, October 11.

A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed a 33-year-old man had died at the scene, however, the man was understood not to have been a worker on the site.

The developer overseeing the construction site said it had been allowed to reopen on Tuesday after it had closed on Monday.

The developer said the incident was “unfortunate” but unrelated to the construction site.

He did not comment on whether counselling had been offered to the workers.

The police spokesman said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

The spokesman said paramedics were called to the scene but not required.

A Workplace Health and Safety Queensland spokesman also confirmed they were not investigating any incident at the site.

The spokesman said the organisation provides a grief and trauma counselling service for people who have been impacted by a death at a workplace.

“Our investigators attended the Birtinya worksite yesterday, however it was established that the incident was solely within the jurisdiction of police,” the spokesman said.

A Mates in Construction spokesman confirmed the organisation had made contact with the site and was supporting it and its workers.
