He’s well regarded in lifesaving circles and is regularly seen on Coast beaches supporting young lifesavers and watching his own children in action.

Kenny made headlines in 1980 when as a 16-year-old who won both the Australian Junior and Open Iron Man Championships on the same day.

He followed that up with wins in The Australian Open Ironman titles in the following three years.

Kenny became a household name as the face of Kelloggs Nuti-Grain, appearing in TV commercials for the cereal.

He married Australian Commonwealth swimming champion Lisa Curry-Kenny in 1986 and they had three children, Jaimi, Morgan and Jett.

Tragically, Jaimi died in September last year, aged 33, after a long illness.

He and Lisa separated in May 2009 but the whole family remains on very good terms.

Morgan Kenny welcomed a baby boy just weeks after her sister’s death.

In September, Lisa Curry opened up about the loss of her daughter Jaimi on the first anniversary of her death.

In an emotional Instagram post she wrote: “I would never have thought my life would be like it is now.

“Today, 1 year ago, we lost our treasured first born, our blue eyed, chatty Jaimi.

“That gut wrenching, heart breaking moment where we had to say goodbye.”

She said she and ex-husband Grant “feel broken”.
