A man was rushed to hospital in a potentially life-threatening injury after his car smashed into a tree on a Sunshine Coast hinterland road.

A young man is fighting for life after a car smashed into a tree on the Sunshine Coast.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Woombye Palmwoods Rd, Palmwoods, just before 4am on Sunday, July 27, to reports a car had left the road and crashed into a tree.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said a man and a woman in their 20s were both freed from the vehicle by fireys before paramedics started treatment on scene.
The young man was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition with significant head injuries, while the young woman was also taken to SCUH in a stable condition with abdominal and pelvic injuries.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said investigations into the crash were underway, and the road is expected to be closed for “some time”.
