Dempsey Hunter Bollinger Ball drink drives twice in one morning in Tewantin

A young Kin Kin labourer became a regular sight for Tewantin police after he was busted drink driving for the second time in the span of two hours in a dash to a mate’s place.

A Kin Kin labourer decided to run the gauntlet in the early hours during the Easter holiday weekend when he was arrested for drink driving twice in two hours.

Dempsey Hunter Bollinger Ball, 20, had his licence disqualified for at least 10 months after he was intercepted driving drunk in two Tewantin streets.

Noosa Magistrates Court heard Bollinger Ball was pulled over by police after he dashed for food with a mate about 1.45am on April 16 2022.

A breath test revealed he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.099 per cent.

Police prosecutor Alison Johnstone said the 20-year-old Kin Kin man’s licence was suspended on the spot for 24 hours however the labourer made another dash to a mate’s place about 3.35am the same morning.

Sergeant Johnstone said Bollinger Ball caught the attention of police after he performed a U-turn on double white lines without his lights on.

The court heard another breath test revealed he had a BAC of 0.081 per cent.

Solicitor Bernard Bradley said it was the Easter long weekend when the Kin Kin labourer made the decision to drive with a mate on both occasions.

Magistrate Maxine Baldwin said the 20-year-old turned himself into “Rudolf’s red nose” after he ran the gauntlet a second time while still drunk.

Bollinger Ball pleaded guilty to two counts of drink driving and driving while under a 24 hour suspension and was fined a total of $1200.

He was then disqualified for a minimum of 10 months.

Convictions were recorded.
