Coolum chef pleads guilty to pulling knife on teens at Noosa Heads bus stop

A Sunshine Coast chef pulled a knife on a group of people including children at a bus stop during a chilling encounter, saying he was going to ‘hack them up’.

A 23-year-old Coolum chef threatened to make mincemeat of a group of people including children, saying he would “hack them up”.

Police intercepted a bus heading from Noosa Heads on the evening of September 27 after they received information about Angus Peter Harry holding a knife near a group of people.

The young chef told police he was waiting at a bus stop after work where he encountered the group talking about egging restaurants and became upset.

Noosa Magistrates Court was told Harry “had a go at them” before another witness reciprocated.

The court heard he then grabbed one of them near the shoulder.

Police prosecutor Pedau Grabbe said a child witness wanted to fight so Harry pulled out one of his knives and told them to “back off”.

The court heard all the group “jumped up” at the sight of this, with Harry telling them he was “going to hack them up”.

Constable Grabbe said a child witness told him to put the knife down for a “fair brawl”, to which he replied if they came near him “he’ll hack them”.

Harry told police he was a cook and often took his knives home with him and said it was in self-defence.

The 23-year-old man pleaded guilty to public nuisance and possessing a knife and was fined $400 with no conviction recorded.
