From content creation to policing, there are several options for high-paying entry-level positions for Sunshine Coast residents.
Sunshine Coast recruitment expert Kate Langford said she was noticing more need for employees in technology-based roles that helped businesses “scale up” with fewer staff.
“That’s where the automation piece comes in,” Ms Langford said.
“How to scale a business with less output – I think that’s where the jobs will be.”
She said, even in her own business, she had struggled to attract Sunshine Coast talent.
The Kate Langford Career and Business Consulting chief executive officer said she had four staff members working from home and based in Brisbane because she could not find workers on the Sunshine Coast.
“The Sunshine Coast is booming so much,” Ms Langford said.
She said there was a need for people in engineering and construction roles on the Sunshine Coast and that would become more vital as the Olympics loomed.
With more than 15 years of recruitment industry experience, Ms Langford said that although the health sector was “screaming out” for nurses, it was a competitive market.
“It’s really hard to get in,” Ms Langford said.
Other high-paying opportunities include policing and content creation.

Queensland Police Union president Ian Leavers said a “very different approach” was needed to attract candidates in the current labour market.
“Our research confirms people not only want to contribute and serve the community but they want a good salary, highly paid superannuation and a stable work life balance,” he said.

However, the report also stated that content creation remained a “side hustle” for most although many creators “aspired” to own their own businesses.
