A Zillmere teenager has come before the court after he was involved in an “aggressive” rampage through Noosa’s glitter strip during the school holidays.
More than 12 emergency calls were made to police on January 3 in regards to a group of five Brisbane-based young men causing havoc at Noosa Heads.
Police prosecutor Nick Nitschke said the calls made to police described a group of “Islander males” wearing dark clothing, armed with baseball bats and using bandannas as face coverings.
“One of the calls reported that five males were chasing three other males … they were described as violent and aggressive,” Sergeant Nitschke said.
Sergeant Nitschke told the court there had been a fight organised on Facebook between the group of Brisbane private school boys and Noosa locals.
“It is believed the planned fight was in retaliation to previous fights on December 31, January 1 and January 2,” he said.
Police found the white Toyota car the group were driving at the Noosa National Park and charged Frank Partsch, 18, who was sitting in the back seat.
Partsch pleaded guilty to being a public nuisance in Noosa Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
His solicitor, Kylie Ward, said her client was the only one of the five males required to face court.
Ms Ward said Partsch was looking for an apprenticeship in welding and his family were in court to support him.
Magistrate Hadyn Stjernqvist said he didn’t understand why a group of young men would be acting in this way.
“It's a very serious public nuisance offence … the stupidity of all this is the mob mentality,” Mr Stjernqvist said.
Partsch had no criminal history and was fined $400 for the offence.
No conviction was recorded.
