A respected Sunshine Coast dentist has lodged plans to turn a Nambour car dealership into a brand new health care facility with the Sunshine Coast Council.
The development application to transform the OzCars Direct dealership at 181 Currie St, Nambour, into a health care facility was submitted to council by developers Morisetty Investments Pty Ltd on August 28, 2023.
The dealership will be demolished for construction of the new development.
Documents state the directors of Morisetty Investments are Dr Lakshmi Morisetty - the principal dentist at Comfort Dental Centre in Buderim and Smile Nambour - and his wife Swetha Morisetty.
Development documents described the proposed facility as “premises for medical, paramedical, alternative therapies and general healthcare and treatment of persons that involves no overnight accommodation”.
It is yet to be approved by council.
Dr Morisetty told this publication the application is for a new dentist and other allied health.
He said the new practice, once approved, is tipped to open in the first quarter of 2025 - construction permitting.
Preliminary design plans show the development will be on the corner of Currie St and Reilly Rd and includes an undercover parking area with three staff car parks and ten visitor car parks, with an additional spot for a van.
