A busy Sunshine Coast McDonald’s has been forced to close its doors earlier due to ongoing reports of “anti-social” and violent behaviour from youths in the area.
Mcdonald’s Coolum has reduced its walk-in hours from 5am-11pm to 5am-8pm but will continue to operate its drive-through 24/7.
A sign on the business entrance said the change was due to “anti-social behaviour”.
The venue is understood to have experienced a significant increase in violent behaviour recently, including a massive eshay brawl earlier this year.
A spokeswoman from McDonald’s Australia said “the safety and wellbeing of our people and customers is our top priority”.
“We do not tolerate anti-social behaviour in our restaurants,” the spokeswoman said.
“In response to recent incidents and to ensure the safety of our crew and customers, McDonald’s Coolum has implemented a temporary dining room closure from 8pm, reopening at 5am for dine-in breakfast.
“Importantly, McDonald’s Coolum remains open to our valued customers 24/7 through Drive Thru and delivery.
“We would like to thank our customers for their assistance and understanding as we continue to prioritise safety in our restaurants.”
A spokeswoman for the Queensland Police Service said police “frequently conduct proactive patrols of the Coolum Beach area”.
