An ambulance crew is on scene after a crash on a busy stretch of road in southern Queensland.

Around 11.30am Wednesday, emergency services raced to a location along the New England Highway at Applethorpe, north of Stanthorpe, in the state’s Southern Downs.

A single vehicle has crashed into a tree along the New England Highway, near Spiller Lane.

It is understood one ambulance crew was dispatched finding the driver in a stable condition.

The patient declined transport by the ambulance crew.

Less than 24 hours earlier a motorcyclist suffered critical injuries after coming from his bike on the same highway at Severnlea.

The man was taken to Stanthorpe Hospital before being flown by the LifeFlight rescue helicopter to rincess Alexandra Hospital on Tuesday evening.

It is a grim end to October on the New England Highway with multiple emergency crews and diversion operators called to a stretch of the New England Highway near Dalveen after a horror truck rollover on Monday.

Fire crews spent more than 12 hours putting the fire out after the vehicle caught fire, and the major thoroughfare was blocked for most of Monday.
