A Kingaroy man busted behind the wheel at nearly four times the legal alcohol limit and a woman nabbed twice within weeks were just two of the South Burnett residents sentenced in court for drink or drug driving recently.

See the full list of names and crimes below:

Warry John Stanley was over the alcohol limit when he decided to overtake a semi-trailer late at night on the Bunya Highway while driving home from a funeral.

Murgon Magistrates Court was told a police car travelling in the opposite direction was forced to slam on the brakes to avoid a crash and subsequently pulled Stanley over.

The 49-year-old recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.066 after telling officers, “I knew what I was doing”, when asked about the overtaking manoeuvre.

Stanley pleaded guilty to one count each of drink driving and overtaking when not safe.

He was fined $542 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Sean Leonard Sedgman was taken off the roads for 12 months after he was nabbed behind the wheel at nearly four times the legal limit.

The 38-year-old was busted while driving on Kingaroy St on Boxing Day, where he recorded a BAC of 0.197.

Sedgman pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of liquor.

He was fined $1200 and ordered to fit his car with an interlock device for the year following his disqualification.

Blake Scott Freeman-Francis was warned he needed to “choose between smoking marijuana and working” when he pleaded guilty to drug driving in the Kingaroy court.

The 25-year-old was nabbed behind the wheel with marijuana in his system when he was pulled over by police on Albert St in July last year.

The Kingaroy man was given a stern warning by magistrate Andrew Sinclair, who told the young tiler he would soon be forced to choose between using drugs and his job given the impact of losing his licence.

Freeman-Francis was fined $900 and disqualified from driving for eight months.

Jodie Skye Nicholson was taken off the roads for six months after she was nabbed drink and drug driving twice within only weeks.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Lisa Manns told the court Nicholson was first busted driving with meth in her system and a pipe in her car at Nanango on October 24.

It was only weeks later in December that the Brisbane woman was caught behind the wheel with a BAC of 0.056 at Wooroolin.

Defence lawyer Jay Rose said his client’s mental health issues contributed to her offending.

Nicholson pleaded guilty to one count each of drink and drug driving and possessing a drug utensil.

She was fined $700 and only traffic convictions were recorded.

Thomas John Tomkins pleaded guilty to drink driving in Murgon Magistrates Court earlier this month.

The 54-year-old was pulled over by police on Silverleaf Rd on December 16, where he recorded a BAC of 0.076.

A self-represented Tomkins told the court he had been in an argument earlier that night and described his actions as “a stupid thing to do”.

The Proston man was fined $400 and disqualified from driving for a month.

Chakotay Albert Anthony Butler was disqualified from driving for three months after he was busted behind the wheel with drugs in his system on Christmas Day.

Sergeant Manns told the Kingaroy court that Butler was nabbed on Youngman St, where he tested positive to marijuana in his system.

Butler had also failed to display his red P-plates correctly at the time, with the 22-year-old describing his offending as a “stupid mistake” that would not happen again.

He was fined $510 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Felix Kauffman landed in hot water after a few drinks the night before pushed him over the legal limit.

The 61-year-old was nabbed on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy in December last year, where he recorded a BAC of 0.055.

Kingaroy Magistrates Court was told Kaufmann claimed he’d not consumed any alcohol that day, but had put away about eight ciders the night before without eating.

The Bunya man pleaded guilty to drink driving. He was fined $200 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Being pulled over for his dodgy vehicle also led to a drug driving charge for Nanango man Robert Brett George.

The 24-year-old was pulled over by police on Kingaroy St last year, where they found oil leaking from his engine along with an unsecured battery and broken seat belt covers and door handles.

The P-plater also tested positive to an illicit drug in his system at the scene.

George pleaded guilty to drug driving and driving a defective vehicle. He was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Kingaroy man Caleb Scott Landers lost his licence for three months after he pleaded guilty to drug driving and not properly displaying his P-plates.

Landers tested positive to marijuana in his system when he was pulled over at Kingaroy in November.

The 19-year-old also didn’t have his plates displayed on the car.

Landers was fined $500.
