Historic Hivesville Hotel seeks new management to revive beloved watering hole
The owner of a 120-year-old South Burnett pub is seeking a passionate visionary to breathe new life into its historic walls, only three weeks after closing the doors.

Owners of one of the Burnett’s most historic pubs are searching for new managers to carry on a 120-year legacy and bring the watering hole back to life following its closure three weeks ago.
The Hivesville Hotel has the gained deep affection of generations of residents, after pouring its first pint in 1904.
The Sherman family - which also owns pubs in Pomona, Ipswich and Roma - has owned the hotel since 2015.
But now they’re looking for a new manager who can give it some tender loving care.

“For a one pub town it has been very prosperous,” Declan Sherman, 46, said.

“Everyone has a deep affection for the pub, it’s a small but vibrant community.”
Following in his father’s footsteps, Mr Sherman has been overseeing the pub for the past three years.
“It’s a beautiful old school pub with amazingly high ceilings and a mixture of outdoor rooms,” Mr Sherman said.
“There is a mixture of indoor and outdoor seating, a large beer garden and a decent outdoor area.”
The Hivesville Hotel is well known for being a family venue with a large garden for children to play and the town’s favourite pizza oven.
Mr Sherman said he has been told by numerous residents that the pub is missed.
“Like any small business it requires the new lessee to be passionate and prepared to put work into the vision they want to create,” Mr Sherman said.
