A police prosecutor has revealed new evidence into the death of a Murgon boy who was bitten by a snake.

Kerrod John Frahm, 31, was charged with manslaughter by police in November 2022, over the death of his 11-year-old son Tristian in November 2021.

Mr Frahm’s lawyer appeared before the Murgon Magistrates Court on Tuesday, via telephone.

Police prosecutor Barry Stevens said the prosecution's case for manslaughter was based on the allegation that Mr Frahm did not give the correct care and attention to his son, which resulted in his death.

“The defendant was told the child had been bitten by a snake,” Sergeant Stevens said.

The court heard police had obtained a statement from a doctor who specialised in venomous snake bites.

“He sets out very clearly what the chances of survival would’ve been if he was taken to the hospital,” Sgt Stevens said.
“The report is very illuminating,” he said.

Tristian was bitten by an eastern brown snake, the court was told.

Solicitor Andrew Bale requested a directions hearing for later in the year.

Magistrate Andrew Sinclair enlarged Mr Frahm’s bail.

Mr Frahm will be required to appear before the Murgon Magistrates Court on July 19 for a directions hearing.
