A Proston mum has become one of the town’s most popular residents after saving the iconic Golden Spurs Hotel.

Jasmine Turner, 29 is the new pub manager following its reopening on Thursday after closing its doors earlier this year.

Ms Turner, who has over a decade of experience in the pub industry, said she loves the atmosphere at the Golden Spurs Hotel.

“I meet new people every single day and get to hear their stories,” Ms Turner said.

Ms Turner had worked at the pub for five years prior to taking a break and moving to Nanango.

“I decided to take on this new venture because once it closed I was getting contacted by locals who knew I’d be up for it,” Ms Turner said.

“Everyone is happy as long as their beers are cold, the service is quick and you never leave anyone with an empty glass.

“I’m excited to bring back the Australia Day woodchopping and start live music performances.”

The Golden Spurs kitchen will reopen with classic pub grub.

“We will be serving all the classics; chicken schnitzel, steaks and rissoles,” Ms Turner said.

Ms Turner said the first five days had been successful and thanked the community for its ongoing support.

“I’ve had nothing but the best few days and I’m looking forward to seeing how much the pub can grow,” Ms Turner said.

“I’m doing it all for the community, I want to give back.”

The Golden Spurs Hotel is open seven days from 10am.
