The occupants of four units in a converted high set Queenslander in Albert Street, Kingaroy, were lucky to escape without injury after fire broke out in a rear kitchen of the timber building on Tuesday.
Emergency services were called to the blaze about midday, with an electrical appliance in the kitchen of one of the flats suspected of being the cause.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesman said three crews attended the fire and had it contained by 12:50pm.
“It was out at about 1pm,” he said.

Queensland Ambulance Service were also on the scene but a spokeswoman said nobody needed assistance.
Kingaroy Fire and Rescue Station officer Bruce Groer said the building consisted of four units, but that only one of the units had been involved in the fire.
It is believed nobody was home at the time.
“The fire room of origin is the rear kitchen area,” Mr Groer said.

“It’s originated in and among some electrical appliances but we leave it undetermined at this stage.”
He said investigators would need to check “a few more things” before they could determine if the electrical appliances were the cause of the fire.
The kitchen was gutted by the flames and the rest of the flat heavily heat and smoked damaged.
Investigations are ongoing.
