An absolute beachfront home in Zilzie with ocean and island views has sold for $3.25 million in a record sale for the coastal town.
The sale of the three-storey home at 18 Amoria Ave, Zilzie, settled in June through Pat O’Driscoll Real Estate.
Sales consultant Penny Keating said there was a lot of interest in the property from all across Australia.
Ms Keating said there was even one inquiry from the United Kingdom.
“A lot of people wanted that house,” she said.
She said the buyers were a couple from North Queensland and purchased the property as a retirement home.
“They knew the area,” she said.
She said at $3.25 million it was a record house sale for Zilzie.
“It is wonderful for the area,” she said.
“It is great that Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast is reaching the rest of the world.
“It is a long time overdue for our coastal area to be reaching these heights.”
She said the Zilzie property market was “pretty robust”.
“All around that area at the moment there is lots of prestige homes being built in Amoria Ave,” she said.
“You drive up there and you can just see the activity and that’s driven the market.”
Built almost 20 years ago, the previous owners visited their 1800 sqm absolute beachfront vacant block for two years, planning their dream family home.
Now that their family had grown up, Ms Keating said the previous owners wanted to downsize.
Spanning over three levels, the home offers six bedrooms, four bathrooms, study, media room, laundry and walk-in wine cellar.
Each level offers a living and dining area, kitchen, and virtually every room enjoys sea views and a private or shared balcony.
The home also has beach access and the high tide mark, uniquely, is its front boundary.
“That was the only house along that stretch that has that ability for the high tide frontage,” Ms Keating said.
The sale of about 28ha of land at 78 Svendsen Road, Zilzie, also recently settled in July for $9 million.
An over-50s lifestyle village with 319 homes was approved to be built on the land by Livingstone Shire Council in April 2022.
Developer Aaron Solito plans to build a $150 million first class secure gated community with facilities including a community centre, cinemas, sauna, indoor heated pool, bowling green, billiards room and tennis courts.
