A secluded oceanfront retreat in Emu Park has sold for $4.8 million in a record sale for the Capricorn Coast.
The property at 92 Ritamada Road, Emu Park, was owned by former mining executive Ian Howard-Smith and his wife Margaret.
The property, also known as Mount Haven, was listed for sale multiple times between 2017 to 2019 for offers over $15 million.
It was listed for sale in November 2020 for offers over $5 million and sold on September 3, 2021 for $4.8 million.
It is understood the sale was private to buyers with ties to the cattle industry in Central Queensland.
The four-bedroom family home sits on more than 58 hectares of oceanfront freehold land with views from the Great Barrier Reef and Keppel Islands to the Capricorn Coast hinterland.
It had approval to subdivide for the creation of eight lots and an extension of the current development application.
Professionals Emu Park principal Kevin Doolan said the record sale meant there were buyers in the market looking to purchase high-end properties.
“There have been lots of high-end sales in the last six months across the board,” Mr Doolan said.
“This would be a record sale for Emu Park and the Capricorn Coast.”
