Nicole Kristeen McClymont, 34, pleads guilty to dishonesty offences

A day after being sentenced to a suspended jail term for stalking and burglary, a Central Queensland woman was back in court, this time for fraud and attempted fraud offences. Here’s what happened.

Fraudsters targeting pandemic payments

A Central Queensland woman sentenced to a suspended jail term on Tuesday for stalking and burglary, was back in court on Wednesday for fraud and attempted fraud offences.

Nicole Kristeen McClymont, 34, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on August 24 to charges including three counts of attempted fraud and one count of fraud.

All of the dishonesty offences related to McClymont using victim Alan Grimshaw’s bank account to try and pay a telephone bill.

She was unsuccessful three times and successful once.

The attempted fraud offences happened almost like clockwork at Biloela on February 23, 2021, then on March 23 and April 23.

The fraud offence happened on May 24, 2021.

For these offences, Magistrate Cameron Press placed McClymont on two years’ probation.

The day prior, in Rockhampton District Court on August 23, Judge Katherine McGinness sentenced McClymont to 18 months’ jail, wholly suspended for an operational period of two years, after she pleaded guilty to one count each of stalking and burglary.

For those offences, where Mr Grimshaw was again the victim, McClymont was also placed on two years’ probation with a special condition that she undertake any psychological or psychiatric treatment as directed.

The District Court heard at the time of the stalking and burglary offences, McClymont was on probation for creating a fake Facebook account using another woman’s photographs to start an online relationship with her former boyfriend, and then contacting the woman the photographs belonged to asking for more photographs and personal information to assist in her facade.
