A Central Queensland mother of four has faced court after the second drug find in her yard this year.
Megan Letitia Turi Smith, 40, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on Thursday to producing and possessing dangerous drugs, and possessing drug items.
Police prosecutor Corey O’Connor said when police executed a search warrant at Smith’s Yeppoon residence on November 4, they found five small cannabis plants in pots in her yard.
Mr O’Connor said Smith told police she had grown the cannabis plants from seeds and had been watering them.
The prosecutor said during the search, police also found 10g of cannabis and cannabis seeds, a bong and a grinder.
The court heard Smith had previous drug offending on her criminal history.
A solicitor said Smith was a mother of four on Jobseeker Allowance, and she was “remorseful” for her offending.
The solicitor said Smith had suffered from mental health issues, anxiety and PTSD.
Acting Magistrate Stephen Byrne said he would give Smith “one last chance” on probation and warned “it won’t happen again.”
“Particularly for drug offences,” he added.
Mr Byrne placed Smith on 12 months’ probation and convictions were recorded.
