The tragic truth about road deaths in Australia

A young man has died after losing control of a motorbike in Mount Morgan on Sunday night.

About 10.50pm the Mount Morgan man, 28, was riding west along Central St before losing control near Pattison St.

Police say the man lost control of the motorbike at the crest of the road before crashing into a vacant block of land.

The man suffered injuries to his arms and chest and was taken to Rockhampton Hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

Police investigations revealed the man was not wearing a helmet.

The forensic crash unit are continuing investigations and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

Meanwhile on Monday, a man in his 30s was flown to hospital following another motorbike crash southwest of Rockhampton.

Paramedics were called to the incident at Fletcher Creek at 8.51am on Monday.

The RACQ Capricorn Rescue Helicopter was also tasked to the incident.

The man was navigating a ridgeline when he lost control of the bike and crashed.

A spokeswoman from the Queensland Ambulance Service said the man had suffered some back pain.

The rescue helicopter was unable to land at the site and as a result the critical care paramedic and rescue crewman were winched to the scene to stabilise and extricate the man.

The man was flown to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition for further scans and treatment.
