As Australian pub culture continues to see a shift in the beer consumption market, more and more microbreweries are continuing to open across the country.

Soon a new microbrewery could open at the Capricorn Coast, joining the two already open and offering a new place for locals to enjoy a cold one.

A material change of use application was recently lodged with Livingstone Shire Council for the new brewery to be built at 42 Arthur St, directly behind the heritage-listed Yeppoon Railway Station.

The microbrewery would be part of the recently approved repurposing of the building, which will be turned into a hotel named The Station, seeing a new community, entertainment and dining hub for the beachside town.

The document states the microbrewery is expected to produce up to 170,000 litres of beer per annum, with the beverage being sold onsite.

The beer produced at the microbrewery would also be supplied to other local venues and distributed through wholesale.

The brew house is designed with a gable/barn style building and would include indoor and outdoor dining, a bar and service area, cold room, unisex amenities and a brewing room.

Once operational, the business is expected to have up to 12 staff between brewing, hospitality service and administration.

The microbrewery would operate seven days a week between 11am and 10pm, or in line with liquor licencing requirements.

According to the planning document the building would also have an awning with an outdoor dining area in the vicinity of the footpath on Arthur St.

Pedestrian access to the main dining and bar service area would be via Arthur St, with access to the brew room via roller doors at the onsite car park.

Yeppoon is currently home to two microbreweries.

Yepp Brewing Co opened its doors at it Macadamia Drive in 2022 with Crimson Finch opening in October last year.
