Bluewater man charged with alleged rape and DV offences

A man faces 18 charges after allegedly raping and sexually assaulting a woman at various Central Qld locations.

A 36-year-old Bluewater man has been charged with rape after he allegedly physically and sexually assaulted a woman known to him at several locations across Gladstone.

Police allege the man threatened her while physically and sexually assaulting her on July 12 about 12pm.

He faces a total of 18 charges.

Police said in a statement the woman reported the alleged incident earlier this month and the man was arrested a short time later.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have spoken to the man or the woman travelling in a white Toyota Landcruiser sometime between 12pm and 5pm between Gladstone and Calliope on July 12 to come forward, the statement read.

The man has been charged with 10 domestic violence offences, including rape, sexual assaults, common assault, deprivation of liberty, assaults occasioning bodily harm, serious assault of a police officer, possessing dangerous drugs, and threatening violence.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear before Gladstone Magistrates Court on September 1.
