Taylah, Tylyn Barron set to launch Cheesecake Shop in Rural View

A Mackay mum with baking in her blood is bringing a Cheesecake Shop to the Northern Beaches with her dedicated hubby even quitting his job to be by her side. VIDEO, DETAILS.

The franchisees of Mackay’s latest Cheesecake Shop are gearing up to throw open their doors to the Northern Beaches.

More than a year after a new Cheesecake Shop franchise was promised for Rural View, franchisees Taylah Barron and her husband Tylyn are ready for a soft launch on June 16, 2025.

Ms Barron said she first suggested the Cheesecake Shop open a franchise in Rural View years ago but — despite head office’s enthusiasm — little came of it until she volunteered herself.

“I called head office and said, ‘do you want a franchisee?’ and we got the ball rolling,” Ms Barron said.

The family finished renovating their house, sold it, moved into a caravan and invested into their new business.

Mr Barron even left his job as a diesel fitter to go through the three-week Cheesecake Shop training course with his wife and is now a core member of the baking staff.

“He’s quit his job to come bake cakes,” Ms Barron said.

“He can barely cook toast, and he’s whipped up nearly 800 cakes in five days which is a phenomenal feat.”

Despite being “thrown in the deep end” the dad took this new direction in his stride.

“I just wanted to support her as she supports me with everything that I do in my life,” Mr Barron said.

For Taylah, the new business is a continuation of her passion for baking, passed down — alongside recipes for vanilla slices, tarts and creamed rice pudding — from her grandmother.

“The Cheesecake Shop name speaks for itself at the end of the day,” Ms Barron said.

The Cheesecake Shop, Rural View is set to open 9am Monday, June 16 for a soft launch with a grand opening to come later in July, with Taylah, Tylyn and even their children manning the storefront to welcome all customers.

“Who doesn’t want mud cakes and cheesecakes on a Friday afternoon in rural view?” Ms Barron said.

“Everyone loves cakes.”

The new franchise is one of many businesses moving to Rural View including Red Dog’s new brewery and Pets Domain.
