A Queensland town brewery has left its old venue behind and relocated to the suburbs in an expansion which could see it roll out craft beer across the entire region.
Red Dog Brewery, formerly on the corner of Chain and Victoria St will soon launch its new home at the Charles Porters and Sons in Rural View.
Since first opening in 2022, Red Dog has expanded to a riverfront bar location this latest move aims to take their beer production to a whole new level.
Part owner Sandi Egan said Red Dog Brewery’s old location had limited room and the new space will allow them to increase their canning, cold room storage and open a bigger seating area and kitchen to the general public.
“It’s been on the cards for a long time,” Ms Egan said.
“It’s took a lot of prior planning to get here.”
The new brewery will have 7800L fermentation tanks, a step up from their 5400-litre tanks at the old location, capable of making up to 132,600 litres of beer per year over 17 three-week brewing periods.
Ms Egan said the new location would allow them to potentially expand the business and said she’d like to put Red Dog beer in “all the local pubs and restaurants”.
“We’ve already got it out at the Mackay Airport and Rare Bar and Grill,” she said.
“We’d like to get it into everywhere local and out to the west.”
The relocation started on October 9, with Red Dog announcing the closure of their brewery on its Facebook and letting customers know its riverfront location would remain open.
The new brewery/restaurant combo will combine the pizza menu from their old restaurant with the tapas selection from Red Dog Riverfront, as well as include some new options.
“The restaurant side of things is a bit of a love thing for me given my background in hospitality,” Ms Egan said.
“We want to bring some new items … stay tuned.”
Ms Egan expects the new location will be soft launched within the next two weeks, with a grand opening hosted by Triple M’s Jay and Dave on the cards for January 2025.
“We’re excited to be coming to the northern beaches,” she said.
“It’s something the community seems to be embracing very well, we just can’t wait to get open.”
Ms Egan also teased new Red Dog brews would come in the new year, made fresh at their new home at Rural View.
