A branch of a pool lifesaver company working across NSW and QLD has gone into liquidation though the CEO believes none of its venues will be impacted.

Lifesaving Australia’s smaller company, LSA Venues Central West — responsible for running swimming brands and programs — wound up its operations on April 29.

LSA CEO Stan Wall cited “weather events” as one of the factors driving it into the ground.

“Over the last few years, we have been impacted by numerous cyclones, floods, bushfires, this along with rising electricity costs, increased costs of living pressures and a forecasted and decreased secondary spend on extras.

“Our advice from our accounting team was to place it into liquidation,” he said.

“Any current employees have been redeployed to Lifeguarding Services Australia.”

Originally set up to run its Learn to Swim (LTS) program in Western NSW, LSA Central Venues West also ran dryland fitness programs such as kid fit, aqua bounce, splash out and combined adult dryland and fitness programming some of which stopped running last year.

Mr Wall said none of LSA’s venues were operated under the fallen branch company, including the council owned Mackay Bluewater Lagoon which was the site of a staff walk out earlier this year over alleged missing pay and safety concerns. The pool’s supervisor at the time, Madison Pittman, who quit after speaking with the Daily Mercury, said she and her team were inspired to take a stand after weeks of being underpaid while Mr Wall was visiting.

Disaster and emergency management coordinator David Ayles, who was contracted at the pool then put his eye on the upcoming tender after he became aware of what he alleged were several safety violations, including broken medical equipment and staff patrolling without valid certificates.
