A new pet supply store will open its doors to Mackay just weeks out from Christmas promising everything “proud pet parents” could need.
Pets Domain, a one-stop shop for pet food, supplies, and aquaculture is set to launch from their new location at Carl Court in the Northern Beaches on December 14.
Styling themselves an “independent, family run business”, Pets Domain was started in Tasmania by chief executive Jason Van Peelen selling live fish out of his garage as a teenager.
Today Pets Domain has grown to more than 70 stores across Australia, with stores in Bowen and Rockhampton.
Setting up in the empty storefront next to Fitstop Rural View and close by to Red Dog Brewery’s new location, Pets Domain stocks pet care supplies for dogs, cats, fish, turtles, reptiles, birds and small animals like guinea pigs and mice.
A Pets Domain spokesperson said Rural View was ideal for their first Mackay store “given the area’s high growth of new housing developments and its current retail
offering of supermarkets”.
“Pets Domain stocks everything you need as a proud pet parent to keep your furry, feathered or scaly friends happy and healthy,” they said.
It does not sell dogs and cats, but a Pets Domain spokesperson said the Rural View store will have a dedicated ‘AquaZone’ which sells fish and live aquatic plants for freshwater, tropical and marine tanks.
“Fish and fish products are one of our biggest specialities,” they said.
Pets Domain also runs a DIY dog wash service which costs $10 per for 10 minutes.
Pets Domain Mackay is still getting set up, with workers and staff installing products and preparing the store for their grand opening on Saturday.
