Forget the Melbourne Cup, a Queensland woman has won an eye-watering share in Tuesday’s $50 million Oz Lotto jackpot following a last-minute decision to buy a ticket, and she says the “crazy” situation “changes everything for everyone”.

A Mackay woman has won an eye-watering share in the $50 million Oz Lotto jackpot and, judging by her own reaction, even she couldn’t believe it.
“Oh my god, I’ve won $25 million?” the Mackay woman questioned on being told she was one of two to secure the major prize pool on Tuesday.
“Are you serious? Holy sh*t This has got to be wrong!
“Oh my god. Honestly? This is crazy.
“This cannot be true. Oh my god. Are you sure it’s me? Really? Are you sure? Is this real?
“This is crazy. This is so cool.”
A last-minute decision to buy an entry has paid life-changing dividends for the anonymous Mackay woman who said it was time to live up to her word.
“And I’ve always said I would retire if I won the lottery – it looks like that’s what I’ll be doing,” she said.
“This changes everything for everyone.
“I can’t wait to help my family. This is wonderful.”
The woman is the latest major lottery winner from the Mackay and Whitsundays region. So far this year, there have been five division one winning entries in the Mackay and Whitsundays region, collectively worth more than $78.2 million.
In February this year, a Mackay man won a $50 million Powerball prize.
Unlike the Victorians, the Mackay woman knows she has collected a hefty windfall.
Lotto officials are trying to track down the 10 Victorian ticket buyers who bought a share in a syndicate.
Each of the 10 syndicate members receives a share of more than $2.5 million.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1446 were 38, 25, 31, 1, 23, 8 and 4, with supplementary numbers were 11 and 44.
Across Australia, there were two division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1446 – one entry each from Queensland and Victoria.
