A Mackay man is counting his blessings – and winnings – after a life-changing $1.4 million Gold Lotto win over the weekend.
The man is one of seven division one winners of Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw, each totalling $1,428,571.43.
The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at Carroll’s News in Victoria St.
He is the only Queensland division one winner.
The man said he got his wife to check the numbers at Carroll’s News before phoning The Lott to confirm his incredible windfall.
“It’s a bit of a shock to be honest. I can’t quite think straight. I don’t know what to say,” he said.
“Thank you … it’s very exciting. It feels surreal.”
The spontaneous millionaire is as yet unsure how he will spend his newfound fortune, adding only “I have no doubt it will be life changing.”
Carroll’s News owner Juanita Shepperson said it had been a while since the store had sold a division one winning ticket.
“2021 is certainly already looking up,” she said.
“Our customers are so excited to hear a division one prize has landed in Mackay.
“Congratulations to our winner.”

There were seven division one winning entries in draw 4119 – two from New South Wales and one each from Queensland, South Australia, the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
