Father-to-be killed in Middlemount forklift incident identified

Friends have vowed to support Joe Williams’ partner and watch over the baby girl he was due to welcome to the world before his sudden death.

A Brisbane man who died in a forklift crash in central Queensland was to soon become a father to a little girl.

Joe Williams, 35, is being remembered as someone “always cracking a joke” and supportive of friends and family who are now rallying to support his partner and baby due next week.

Mr Williams died when a forklift he was driving rolled and trapped his foot off Black Butt Court in Middlemount about 2.40am on Saturday.

As police investigations into the incident continue, friends and family are raising funds to support Mr Williams’ partner Casey Watters and their baby daughter.

“After the sad passing of Joe Williams we would like to do anything we can to support his partner Casey and their soon-to-be-born baby,” one online fundraiser read.

“We all have fond memories of Joe.

“Joe was great to be around, always cracking a joke and there if you needed a chat and not afraid of getting his hands dirty.”

Close friend Tye Stephenson described Mr Williams as a “brother, partner in crime and a joker”.

“Tragically taken from us all too soon,” he wrote.

“I promise mate that I will always be here looking out for your beautiful partner Casey and beautiful baby girl, even though I know that you are looking down on them.”
