A Lowood man has been jailed for his part in an horrific attack on a woman at Goodna.

An Ipswich dad’s “disgusting” and “cowardly” role in the assault and abduction of a woman in a home west of Brisbane has been revealed as he was jailed for the attack.

The aspiring social worker faced Ipswich Magistrates Court today, July 4, for the “appalling” crime.

The court heard he watched and helped as the woman was allegedly assaulted with a dog leash and pool cue.

Lowood’s Bradley Ian Charles Bossom, 37, pleaded guilty at his sentence to 24 charges including assault occasioning bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.

Those offences related to Bossom’s role in the abduction and assault of a woman at a Goodna home on December 16 last year.

Police prosecutor Jessica Mills said there were multiple co-accused charged with more serious involvement in the “appalling” and “demeaning” events.

The co-accused’s matters have not yet been resolved.

Ms Mills said Bossom had been living at a home in Goodna at the time of the offending with other individuals, including a woman who had asked the victim to come over on the day in question.

After the victim arrived, that woman then allegedly punched the victim multiple times in the mouth, causing a split lip and broken tooth caps.

The same co-accused then allegedly struck the victim with a dog leash twice in the head, causing profuse bleeding.

It was alleged she then got a knife from the kitchen and threatened to kill the victim.

The court heard Bossom gave one of his co-accused a broken pool cue which they allegedly used to strike the victim multiple times.

Ms Mills said the victim managed to grab the end of the pool cue to slow one of the blows, but Bossom ran over and snatched it from her hand.

Around dawn, the victim was allegedly bundled into the boot of a vehicle, taken to another location and tied to a tree.

Ms Mills said a “more significant assault” was then alleged to have occured.

She noted Bossom was not involved in any events after the victim was put into the boot.

The court heard Bossom had told his co-accused at that stage: “She’s had enough. Just let her go”.

Ms Mills said one of the co-accused allegedly responded: “F--k it, I’m not done with her yet”.

Magistrate Kathleen Payne said Bossom’s presence and assistance throughout the incident was an “appalling display of cowardice”.

“It’s disgusting behaviour on your part,” she said.

“You can imagine the sheer terror that she (the victim) sustained and no doubt continued to sustain after that incident.”

Defence barrister Adam Mason said his client had been writing letters to his 12-year-old daughter throughout his 196 days in presentence custody.

He said Bossom had a difficult upbringing and had been using methamphetamine and cannabis heavily at the time of the offending.

The court heard Bossom would be living at a different address upon his release, with employment prospects in cleaning or metal work, along with a supportive partner who had a strict “no drug policy” in her household.

Ms Mason said his client aspired to complete his degree in social work and “help prevent others from ending up in his position”.

As well as the assault and deprivation charges, Bossom also pleaded guilty to a string further charges that had occured in the six months before the assault.

Those charges included using a carriage service to menace, unlawful possession of motor vehicles, five counts of receiving tainted property and possessing suspected stolen property, drugs offences, possessing a knife in a public place and traffic offences.

Bossom received a head sentence of two years’ jail, with 196 days of presentence custody declared time-served.

Parole release was set for August 15 this year.

He was also sentenced to an extra seven days’ jail, with immediate release, for the carriage service offence plus a good behaviour recognisance of $1000.
