Every year the Gympie Show aims to celebrate and display all the best the region has to offer, and of those selected as the best, there are a few named the champions.
To be considered the Grand Champion, your artwork, cake, fruit and/or veggie or animal must be beyond expectations.
In the Stud Cattle arena, a bull named Gold Crest Jackaroo Quigley was crowned the Champion of Champions on Friday.
Gold Crest weighed a whopping 958kg, and was a limousin bull from Crowsnest in south Queensland, according to his owner Darren Hartwig.
In the Dairy Cattle arena, a jersey Saltantossa was crowned Supreme Champion.
Saltantossa was owned by Chad and Carita Parker, and was lucky enough to get a picture with Gympie Showgirl, Jasmine Farrow.
In the poultry building a bantam soft-feather owned by Denis Dowdle was crowned Best In Show, beating other competitors, including a pristine white duck.
Over in the caged-bird pavilion there was more than one champion.
Four caged birds were judged Grand Champion, including a finch owned by Cheryl Mares, a canary owned by Jan Flash, a parrott owned by Jenny Stolberg and a budgie owned by Jan Mitchell.
In the fruit and vegetable display of the pavillion, Lovacado avocados were named Grand Champion Exhibit, also winning Champion Fruit and Champion Avocado.
A special mention to Joe Kiernan for his display of hydroponics, and some impressive chillies.
In the cookery section, an incredibly iced cake made by Kerryn Brown was crowned Grand Champion.
The cake brilliantly illustrated the COVID impact, and featured a person’s head and shoulders, complete with flowers for hair, a face mask and a syringe for the vaccination.
