Show worker Tiffany Welsh gets to explore Australia

Working at shows for almost a year has allowed a teenager to see parts of Australia she may not have seen otherwise, while constantly connected with old friends and new.

Tiffany Welsh is a 19-year-old show worker who gets to travel Australia with the shows.

For nine months Tiffany Welsh, 19, has been travelling Queensland and New South Wales working on show stalls, while seeing the sights and meeting people from all over the world.

For People’s Day at Gympie Show, she’s working at the slushie stall surrounded by an array of necktie straw slurpee water bottles.

Originally she signed up for a casual weekend job in Cairns, and then decided to work full-time travelling around with a small group of stalls owned by Sarah and Boyd Baker.

The beauty of working and travelling means she gets to explore Australia in a unique way.

“We get to see a different place every single week,” Ms Welsh said.

“We’re never anywhere for more than a week, most of my shows are only on the weekends, so the majority of the week I can go around and see where we’re visiting.

“I get to stop along the way before I get to the show and see the beaches and waterfalls around the place.”

The downside is with all the moving, making friends is constant, and there’s plenty of time in between shows where you might not see them again.

“It’ll be awhile before we reconnect again, it’s always leaving and then reconnecting,” Ms Welsh said.

Ms Welsh doesn’t know what’s next for her.

“I just see where the road takes me, it’s really beautiful and I like the travelling aspect of it at the moment,” she said.
