Sisters Alexa and Macey Ritchie are cake decorating champions with most of the winning cake decorations on display at the Gympie District Agricultural Show made by them.
It has been the sweetest Gympie Show yet for sisters Alexa and Macey Ritche after receiving multiple awards for their cake decorating.
Their masterpieces are on display on the second floor of the pavilion at the Gympie District Agricultural Show.
Alexa, 13, had three award-winning cakes, a toadstool/mushroom house, a traditional cylinder cake decorated with yellow flowers and a dog.

She’s been entering cakes into the cooking competition for the last three years.
The first year she entered winning cupcakes, the next a grand champion cake decoration, and now first prize and two second places.
Macey, at 11-years old won places with two of her cakes this year, a cow and donkey.
Both girls say they’ve been inspired by their Nan, who loves to bake, but admitted that Google was the ultimate place of inspiration for this year’s Gympie Show.
“We just picked the category we wanted to go in and than googled some inspiration and turned it into our own creation,” they said.
“Nan showed us some tricks and then she helped us and now we just know how to do it by ourselves.”
As delicious as the cakes look, they aren’t edible and are strictly for competition.
“They are probably mouldy inside,” Macey said.
While the baking and decorating talent is strong, Alexa and Macey both want to be school teachers when they grow up.
They both admitted it’s not their Nan’s cakes they love the most, it’s her pikelets.
